FAQ
Q: When choosing a modified motor, what's the best way to determine the best wind?
A: Modified motors typically are found in the 10- to 19-turn wind range. The lower the number of turns, The more powerful the motor. However a lower number of turns also means less run time due to more current draw. Here are some guidelines:
Higher number of turns are needed if:
- You're a beginner
- The track is slippery
- Smooth power and acceleration are important
- You want the most run time
Lower number of turns are needed if:
- The surface has a high traction
- You're an expert driver
- Maximum power and acceleration are needed
- Run time is not an issue
Always consult your car's instruction manual or manufacturer for recommended winds and gear ratios.
