Charity Race 2002 a.k.a MD Parking Lot Challenge
Hobby Works is proud to host this event for the 8th year in a row! This is a fun event because everybody wins something, and it is always for a good cause. Even though there are tons of drivers, everybody is happy to be there and the charity is more important that who wins and loses.
It was a beautiful fall day and the turnout showed it - We had 127 drivers from many local shops and tracks:

The weather was great temps in the 80's, and sunny. The track was a monster 670 ft center line with a long straightaway, track times in the 20 -23 second range.
Practice started at 9 am, with the track being so large, there were between 30 -40 cars on the track at one time for practice. Needless to say traffic was an issue !!
Once qualifying got underway, things went very smoothly. Drivers showed awesome patience getting around the track. The track was large enough for everyone to find their own groove. Two rounds of qualifying were run to set the mains.
In addition to the driver raffle (one ticket for each car entered), one dollar also bought three tickets for the big driver/spectator raffle. During the break, the main raffle prize: a Losi XXX NT RTR (!) was given away!
The mains were set, and the drivers put on a great show for the crowd, and thier friends. There was door handle to door handle racing. There was a few flips, and few spills, but a lot of fun. A few drivers at the begining of the grid found a little trouble, and it was fun to see them try to come up through the field for a win.
After the mains it was Trophy and DOOR PRIZE time!
Once again we achieved our goal of every single driver getting a door prize, and then some. I did the traditional throw and dive with the last of the door prizes!
