I've finally finished testing the DYNAMIS by Bachmann. It's a new generation of E-Z command controller. A significant leap forward in operations, it enables existing and new E-Z command customers to benefit from a full function DCC system. Its a really fun and functional unit! I've got 6 locos from different manufacturers: Bachmann, Broadway Limited, Roundhouse, just to name a few. All were really easy to program into the unit and I get full running and sound out of each. It also offers real walk around since it is wireless and has a 30 foot range. Just hang on to the receiver near the layout and you're good to go. The unit seems to work best when elevated. It will also work turnouts and accessories. The turnouts are really easy to program: I use the E-Z Track turnouts they have a small button you push with a pen point then just assign an address with the unit.
This unit is also expandable, get the 5amp power booster and it will let you run up to 40 locos at any one time (up to 21 functions per loco). One drawback though: Unlike the basic E-Z Command, this does not run any analog locos and the instructions tell you that trying to run them will damage the unit. This means upgrading all your old locos (we can help you with that!) or running them on a separate track totally isolated from the DCC layout. But even with that, it's a great beginners unit and for the layout already up and running. There is nothing in the world as cool as having all your locos working and the bells and whistles going off at the same time, and being heard all over the house. This unit is the way to go!
