One of the most awesome gifts you can give or receive is a ready-to-run radio controlled car, truck or buggy. Here at Hobby Works, we have a great selection of electric and nitro-powered land vehicles to fill even the biggest stocking.
When one thinks of electric-powered R/C cars and trucks, one name comes first to mind: Tamiya. Their XB Series vehicles come complete with everything you need except eight AA alkaline batteries, a 1500 mAh (or more) 7.2 volt rechargeable battery, and battery charger. (For additional battery and charger selections, click here.)
Two of our favorites: (Click on the picture for details.)

The Mercedes CLK on the left uses the same chassis as their famed TL-01 kit cars, and like those cars, is elegible to participate in Hobby Works' racing series. All you need to win is to learn how to drive fast!
On the other hand, if you want to emulate our heroic US Military, Tamiya's Humvee (above right) is a faithful reproduction of this war-winning machine that not only tears up the pavement but can be run in smooth dirt and short grass as well. Be the first on your block to put the enemy on the run!
Electric vehicles are clean, quiet, and require no engine break-in period, and those are some of the reasons they are so popular. However, for some of us, there is no substitute for the thrill, power, and yes, noise of a nitro engine! We carry the full line of HPI and Traxxas nitro vehicles -- both ready-to-run and kits -- as well as others from additional manufacturers.
First of all, there's the redoubtable NRS4 RTR Series from HPI. All of these cars are essentially identical except for their unpainted body shells (which are clear Lexan and can be customized to your heart's content) and only need 12 AA alkaline batteries (8 for the transmitter, 4 for the on-board electronics) and engine starting equipment (fuel, glow starter, etc.) to get on the road now!

One of the great things about the RS4 RTR series is that they are excellent first-time nitro-powered cars that are very fast right out of the box. Hobby Works has almost every spare part available for repairs, but in addition, there are many ways to hop up these cars for even more speed. In particular, the addition of a 2-speed transmission and a tuned pipe will enable an RS4 to reach an amazing 50 mph. Considering these are 1/10 scale cars, that's like the real thing going 500 miles an hour!
Finally, we have the world's best-selling R/C truck, the amazing, fantastic and truly incredible Traxxas T-Maxx. On one hand, it is tough as a boot -- we regularly demostrate its ruggedness by dropping one to the floor from above our heads -- and yet, if and when you do break something (or better yet, want to improve it), we have a huge selection of replacement and upgrade parts in stock.
Best of all, the T-Maxx (and its brother, the electric E-Maxx) are in a sense two vehicles in one: compared to many other R/C trucks, their relatively low centers of gravity make them great performers on asphalt and concrete while their heavy-duty, long-travel suspensions and large standard tires give them the ability to do everything from climbing stairs to jumping off ramps (and surviving unscathed!).

So, whether you want to go on- or off-road, gas or electric, Hobby Works has a ready-to-run car or truck for you. When you wrap these presents, you just might want to label them "open me first," especially if the weather is nice!
